These are the convictions that shape everything we do on the street. Serving with Namesake means carrying them with us.

• —Christ is the centre. We are not a charity that happens to be Christian — we go because Jesus told His people to go, and every meal, coat, and conversation points back to Him.
• —Love is the motive. We serve because Jesus first served us, not to be seen, not to fill a quota, and not to fix anyone on our own timeline.
• —Every person carries the image of God. The addicted, the unhoused, the forgotten — no one we meet is a project. They are people worth knowing by name.
• —We build bridges, not walls. Food, coffee, clothing, and presence are the bridge; the hope of Jesus is what crosses it.
• —The Church is one body. We come from many different congregations and we leave denominational lines at the curb.
• —Faithfulness over spectacle. We show up every week whether anyone is watching or not.

How we actually carry ourselves in the field. This is the practical shape of the values above.

• —We meet people where they are. We come to the sidewalk, the alley, and the shelter line — we do not ask people to come to us first.
• —We lead with dignity. We kneel down, learn names, ask questions, and listen far more than we talk.
• —We share the gospel honestly and gently. We never withhold food, warmth, or help to pressure someone into a conversation about Jesus, and we never manipulate a moment of need into a decision.
• —We go in pairs. New volunteers are always paired with someone who knows the route and the faces. Nobody serves alone.
• —We follow the team lead. On outreach nights, the person leading has the final call on safety, location, and timing — no exceptions.
• —We stay consistent. Relationships on the street are built over months, not in a single night. Presence is the point.
• —We do not hand out cash, alcohol, or anything that would put someone at greater risk.

Namesake Ministries is a Christ-centred ministry. You do not need to be part of any specific church to serve with us, but our team shares these core convictions.

• —There is one God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
• —Jesus Christ is the Son of God — fully God and fully man — who lived without sin, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, and is coming again.
• —Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. It is a gift of God and not the result of our own works.
• —The Bible is the inspired Word of God and is our final authority for faith and practice.
• —Every person is made in the image of God, is loved by God, and is worthy of dignity and respect.
• —Followers of Jesus are called and empowered by the Holy Spirit to be His witnesses — in word and in action — beyond the walls of the church building.

Serving with Namesake means representing this ministry and the people who trust us. These standards are not negotiable.

• —Treat everyone — those we serve, fellow volunteers, shelter staff, and the public — with respect, patience, and gentleness.
• —Zero tolerance for harassment, discrimination, intimidation, predatory behaviour, or any form of abuse. Any breach ends your involvement immediately.
• —Never pursue a romantic or sexual relationship with anyone we serve. The imbalance of power makes this always wrong.
• —Do not arrive under the influence of alcohol or non-prescribed drugs, and never bring them to an outreach.
• —Do not photograph or film anyone we serve without their clear, freely given permission — and never in a way that makes them the subject of a fundraising appeal without consent.
• —Follow all safety instructions from the team lead. If a situation feels unsafe, withdraw and report it.
• —Do not make promises on behalf of the ministry — housing, money, rides, jobs — that you are not authorised to keep.
• —Represent Namesake well online and offline. You carry the ministry's name with you.
• —Report any concern, incident, or boundary crossing to a team lead the same day.

People on the street tell us things they have told almost no one. Protecting that trust is part of the work.

• —Keep the identities, stories, health, addiction, criminal history, and family situations of the people we serve confidential. Do not repeat them outside the team.
• —Do not share names, photos, or identifying details on social media, in a small group, or in a church service without explicit permission from the person involved.
• —Do not publicly post exact outreach locations, times, or logistics in ways that could compromise the safety of our team or the people we serve.
• —Keep internal team matters — volunteer details, contact information, donor information, and internal discussions — private.
• —If you believe someone is in immediate danger, or a child or vulnerable adult is at risk, tell a team lead right away. Safety overrides confidentiality.
• —This commitment continues even if you stop serving with Namesake.
